The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County<https://www.libraryvisit.org/> (OH) seeks a knowledgeable Marketing Manager to broaden awareness of Library services, resources, programs, and events throughout PLYMC service locations, ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, and to ensure the appropriate and effective use of the PLYMC brand.  Under the direction of the Chief Experience Officer, this position will be responsible for developing and leading the execution of the marketing and communication strategy in support of the Library’s strategic goals and initiatives.


Responsibilities.  (1) Manages all activities of the Marketing Department including marketing and promotions, advertising, internal and external communications, social media, the PLYMC website, and events coordination to promote the Library’s brand, resources, and activities. Prioritizes marketing projects and establishes internal processes and work flows to ensure efficient, effective, and timely production. Ensures adherence to deadlines and productions schedules for programs, publications, exhibits, and special events. (2) Develops and directs customer centered communication, marketing, and branding strategies designed to tell the PLYMC story, highlight our impact, anticipate patron needs, and build relationships with the community. (3) Utilizes analytics, library statistics, demographics, and market data to maximize the effectiveness of the Library’s marketing and communication strategies to increase library membership, circulation, and program attendance. Routinely collects community input and performs a needs assessment to gather community feedback and identify gaps and opportunities. (4) Collaborates with Public Service administrators, department managers, and branch
supervisors in development of marketing and communications materials. Provides guidance and support to Library’s leadership team members for external and internal communications.



Qualifications.  Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or closely related field required.  A minimum of five years of progressive marketing and/or communications experience. Highly creative with experience identifying target audiences and creating effective marketing campaigns that engage and generate positive customer outcomes. Ability to coordinate diverse information and work with independent initiative. Ability to motivate staff; encourages growth, recognizes skills, and fosters improvement when needed; provides and accepts regular performance feedback. Demonstrable skill or certification in website management, video editing, or graphic design preferred.



Physical Requirements.  Nature of work requires a high level of ability to effectively communicate and exchange information verbally, in writing and using basic technology resources (email, etc.) with attention to detail. Requires regular travel to other library branches, and community meetings as needed. Some transporting of library promotional materials or equipment not exceeding 25 lbs. Majority of work is performed in a general office / library environment. The job requires the flexibility to multi-task, handle interruptions and emergencies, and change focus.



Work Schedule.  Full-time, exempt position. Availability for extended or non-traditional hours as needed to perform job duties.  Participation and attendance at promotional events and off-site meetings required. Requires regular travel to other library branches, and community meetings as needed.



Compensation.  Starting annual salary of $56,521 (negotiable with experience) and an excellent fringe benefit package including a pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS).
