Network Services Customer Update - February 6, 2004


Outage (DAS Intranet):  February 6, 11:04 - 11:52 a.m.

ITSD network engineers encountered an unknown switch anomaly during an
installation at the State of Ohio Computer Center.  Connectivity betwee=
n
the DAS Intranet and the ohio.gov network was lost.  We are in the proc=
ess
of working with Cisco's Technical Assistance Center to determine the ca=
use.


Scheduled Maintenance:

Tuesday, February 10, 3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

ITSD network engineers will be installing an OC12 module to router ATMO=
SN.
No outage is expected.

Tuesday, February 17, 3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

ITSD network engineers will be upgrading software on an ITSD Enterprise=

core router at the State of Ohio Computer Center.=A0 All ITSD internal
customers served from this router will lose connectivity.=A0 Connectivi=
ty for
ITSD internal processes between SOCC and Rhodes will be affected as wel=
l.
The actual duration of the outage is expected to be one hour, but may l=
ast
as long as the full maintenance window.=A0 This software upgrade is nec=
essary
to correct minor bugs in the router software as well as add new
functionality.

Maintenance Update:

Tuesday's, 3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

Effective Tuesday, February 3, 2004 the ITSD Network Security Group wil=
l
begin performing firewall maintenance.  This maintenance will occur on
Tuesday's during ITSD Network Services scheduled maintenance window.  W=
hen
the firewall maintenance occurs, customers may experience a brief (3
minute) outage.  We would like our customers to be aware of this window=

when planning or scheduling events that may be affected by the brief
outage.  Please let us know if you currently have business needs that
prohibit us from performing this maintenance.  All maintenance that
requires downtime or could possibly result in a large impact to our
customers will continue to be scheduled with our customers being notifi=
ed
in advance.

Completed Maintenance:

Tuesday, February 3, 3:00 - 6:00 a.m.

ITSD Network Security Group performed maintenance on the ITSD Firewalls=
 at
the State of Ohio Computer Center and Rhodes State Office Tower.

Qwest rehomed a DS3 circuit to a new access point in Youngstown.

ITSD network engineers replaced a faulty redundant power supply on a
backbone ATM switch.
