Yes they can, they can even run autoplay like cds and run programs on =
your computer! I was just reading a security article about turning off =
autoplay via group policy for all devices including usb for this reason =
in fact at:

Good antivirus will scan these devices if set up properly though so you =
should be ok if you have it installed.
