Speaker: 
Laura Solomon is the Library Services Manager for OPLIN and former Web
Applications Manager for Cleveland Public Library. She has been doing web
development and design for over ten years, in both libraries and as an
independent consultant. She has been involved in Second Life since 2006 and
is the official webmaster for the international Second Life Library project.


	

Program Description:
Virtual worlds such as Second Life are growing at incredible rates. Learn
what Second Life is, how libraries and educational institutions are using
it, and about the InfoIsland Library Project that became an archipelago of
more than 20 large islands in less than a year. Discover the opportunities
and challenges of working in this type of environment and why a presence in
this kind of environment may or may not be beneficial for your library.


Directions to Nelsonville Public Library
>From Route 33 into Nelsonville (arriving from either direction) there will
be a traffic light on the corner of Hocking Parkway and September Street. 

Turn onto September Street.
Go approximately one block, then turn Right onto Columbus Street.
Turn left immediately for library parking lot.
Parking is in rear of building. 


Meals: No meal is included in this workshop 

	

Audience: Library professionals curious about establishing a Second Life
presence. Anyone interested in current technology and internet trends.
