[OPLINTECH] Linux based WiFi Routers

Eric,
I've used DD-WRT on a few different router models.

Originally I used a Linksys WRT54GS at my home, and its been my main
router for the past few years.

After that I needed a wired port for a printer upstairs, so I added a
Buffalo WHR-G125 in a bridge mode, and it has been running without issue
for about a year. I've also got WHR-G125s running at 4 other
friends/family houses plus the OPLIN office, and they've been trucking
along.

Once Buffalo was disallowed from selling their routers in the US, I
moved over to the Linksys WRT54GL. I've had 2 running at my parent's
place for about a month, and just ordered one for the OPLIN office
today, as a backup for the Buffalo unit. The install process on the
WRT54GL is by far the easiest, since the default firmware will allow you
to flash to micro v24, and then micro will let you flash to normal. On
top of that, they just went on sale today at newegg for $55 with free
shipping.

Some time in the next week, myself and a couple of the OIT engineers
plan on hitting the WRT54GL with an iperf test and see what it does.
I'll post to let you all know the results.

Lastly, for p2p stuff, under "Administration" --> "Management" in
DD-WRT, you can modify the "Maximum Ports" values and the TCP/UDP
timeouts to greatly improve the way it handles torrenting.

Thanks,
