[OPLINTECH] IE 8 for public computers?

Hi Phil,
I wouldn't go with IE8 yet even though it's a final version, there's a whole
punch of issues need to be fixed and I assume it will be done pretty soon.
So I would stick with IE7 especially for the public for another month or so.
Thanks

Subject: [OPLINTECH] IE 8 for public computers?

Would you put IE 8 on public computers now, or stick with IE 7? It
looks like IE 8's Compatibility View feature is supposed to be able to
deal with all kinds of things, but I'm not sure how well it will work.
What concerns me most is web sites that require IE; we'll have the
latest version of Firefox as an alternative that should display most
things well, but it would stink if a site required IE but didn't work
properly with IE8. I'm not finding anything that mentions any sites
failing to work with IE8.

This would be a good time for us to put out 8 because we're going to be
putting out new public computers. I'd like to give patrons the latest
software, but I don't want people go go away frustrated because
something didn't work on our brand new computers.

Thanks.

Phil
