Ubuntu worked great up to 10.04 LTS. I would recommend Xubuntu now for 
older machines. Just make sure you put all your settings in Firefox before 
making it the default shell. And it's free!

I think this was covered a bit not too long ago, but I?m wanting to see 
how many libraries out there are using Ubuntu on public 
computers/catalogs. Also what has your experience been with them? I?m 
looking at using some retired XP computers as catalog Kiosks and run 
Ubuntu on them. Thoughts, comments?
