[OPLINTECH] following up - WiFi usage

I use a Juniper WLC100 with WLA532 APs. E-rate Cat2 funded the hardware, and the Juniper AP licenses were a one-time purchase. The potentially costly component would be annual management software licenses. I just didn't buy the management software, and instead manage the config via cli. I was collecting session statistics via my firewall and syslogging, but that generated per-day use data. To get hourly sessions, I wrote a small script that checks the Juniper for sessions hourly, and disambiguates the library branch usage based on which AP the MAC is connected to. I don't use WIOMW because I want to keep client isolation enabled, which prevents network scanning from being effective.

I have one Meraki (… attend a webinar get an AP :) ) and I like the portal and reports. Just not the price.

I have deployed a handful of Unifi APs to match the UniFi Security Gateway that I replaced an aging Cisco ASA with. Given the nature of the technology and supporting tools and resources I hope to move from MongoDB foo to some nice elegant 21st
 century craftwork.

Looking forward to more braintrust power :)
