Thanks to all of your for your comments on the survey.  As I noted during
last week's call we have completed the pre-test and none of the testers
identified any problems with the operation of the survey or with the
wording, so we made no changes to the survey.  

 

Please find attached the cover letter for the survey which will be sent out
early next week.  Tom, Angela, Stephen and Missy have reviewed the cover
letter.  We can take comments at Friday's call or via email.  

 

Distribution-Based on the July meeting discussion of distribution, the
following were the thoughts gathered at that time.  

The survey is being sent to the Deans/Directors of Ohio Cultural heritage
organizations.  We would like to get one answer per institution, sending it
to the Dean/Director we hope will aid in getting a single response.  We
recognize that there are large organizations-academic libraries, research
museums and public libraries that may have multiple digital initiatives
within their organizations as they have both multiple libraries, museums and
archives and that we will get multiple responses, we will address this on
the back end. The majority of Ohio cultural heritage organizations are small
and medium size so one response should be possible.  We recommend the
following distribution strategy: 

 

--Academic libraries:  Gwen Evans will send out through her directors list

--Public libraries:  State Library of Ohio will send out through their
Director list

--Archives:  Contact the Society of Ohio Archivists to see if they'll
distribute

--Museums:  Distribute through Ohio Museum Assn

--Historical Societies and History Museums:  Ohio History Connection will
send out through their list

 

Depending on survey response after 7-10 days we can send a second mailing to
other listservs, reminding people to respond to the survey

 

At the end of week two, we will review who has responded and if we aren't
getting response from 'must have' institutions, we'll then need to send
individual emails.  These should come from a member of the Exec Committee or
Planning Committee.
