[SOA] SOA Continuing Education Stipend: Deadline March 31

Dear SOA Members, 
The deadline for the Continuing Education Stipend has been extended to March 31. We have not had any applicants for the stipend, which consists of $150 cash and free registration. Please consider applying for this award, or passing this information on to members who may not be on the listserv. The stipend is open to ALL members of SOA who live more than 50 miles from the conference site (Columbus, Ohio). The Society of Ohio Archivists is pleased to offer its first Continuing Education Stipend for attendance at the Spring Conference, April 19-21, 2006. Proceeds from last year's Silent Auction are being used to provide this opportunity for an SOA member to attend the conference. The stipend includes $150 cash to defray travel costs and free registration for both days of the conference. 

Eligibility for the Continuing Education Stipend is open to all current SOA members who live more than 50 miles from the conference site. Applications will be rated based on:

*       Applicant's written statement of how conference will benefit them professionally 
*       Applicant's scholarship and contribution to archives, in comparison with his/her number of years in the field 
*       Applicant's level of financial support for attending the conference from his/her employer 

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 31, 2006. The awardee is expected to attend both Thursday and Friday of the conference and will be recognized at the Thursday evening reception. In addition, the winner will write a column in the Ohio Archivist describing their experience at the conference.
