[SOA] Job Announcement -- Processing Archivist, Gubernatorial Records

The Ohio Historical Society (OHS) is accepting applications for a two
year Processing Archivist I position within the State Archives. This
position is primarily responsible for arranging and describing
gubernatorial records.  

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of archival
principles, techniques, and practices and direct experience in records
processing and cataloging. Familiarity with Ohio state government and
the types of records series created by gubernatorial administration are
essential. The abilities to express oneself clearly and effectively in
written and oral form, to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with public officials, and work well within a flexible
work routine and within prioritized project schedules are critical.
Successful candidates should also be familiar with Microsoft
applications (Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook), have good penmanship,
and must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, climb
ladders to shelve or retrieve materials, and work in varied
environmental conditions that may contain dust and mold.  The archivist
may also supervise interns and volunteers.  

Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in archival studies,
library science (with an archival component), American history, or other
areas of the humanities or the equivalent work experience plus one to
three years relevant experience. Certified Archivist designation is
desirable.  A valid driver's license is required.

Starting salary is $33,000.
