Archivist, Kelvin Smith Library (Job No 7394)
Case Western Reserve University

Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for management of all manuscript collections  
in the Kelvin Smith Library, the Astronomy Library, Music Library and  
the Retrospective Research Collections Center.  Performs appraisal,  
accessioning, arrangement and description, and preservation of  
materials in all formats and collecting areas.

The Archivist oversees reference queries, engages in active outreach  
to promote the collections, including the preparation of exhibitions  
and instruction in use of archival materials.

The Archivist will assist with special projects at University  
Archives as deemed appropriate.

Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of two years relevant experience in archival  
administration and processing (print and electronic) in an academic  
library (preferred) or archival setting.   Experience in developing  
digital library resources based on archival materials, including  
digitization of original materials, preparation of appropriate  
metadata, and interface design.

Education/Licensing -- M.L.S. from American Library Association- 
accredited program with an emphasis on Archival studies or a graduate  
degree in archival studies, or formal coursework or training in  
archival management.  Second masters degree in History, American  
Studies, or other related discipline is strongly desired.  Valid Ohio  
driver’s license.
