"Alphabet Soup: A Metadata Overview"
Featuring Melanie Schlosser, Metadata Librarian at OSU Libraries

What is METADATA and how is it created? What kinds of metadata are there, 
and how will you select the right one? How is it related to cataloging? Ms. 
Schlosser will discuss these questions and more, including some of the most 
important issues involved in sharing metadata with other institutions.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

WHERE: Larry D. Black Auditorium at Main Library, Columbus Metropolitan 
Library, 96 S. Grant Avenue in downtown Columbus.
Parking is available at $.50 per hour in the Library's attached garage.

PRESENTER
Melanie Schlosser, Metadata Librarian at OSU Libraries, is a recent 
graduate of the Indiana University School of Library and Information 
Science (MLS). While at IU, she worked with the IU Digital Library Program 
and became a full-time Digital Library Resident, specializing in electronic 
text projects and metadata issues. She currently works with OSU's 
institutional repository (the KnowledgeBank) and other digitization projects.
