SPEAKERS
Virginia P. Dawson ( http://www.historyenterprises.com/meetus.php) is
the president and founder of Cleveland-based History Enterprises. She
holds a doctorate in History of Science and Technology from Case
Western Reserve University. In 1997 she incorporated History
Enterprises with Mark D. Bowles. Dawson and Bowles co-authored
several books and the script for a video documentary of the life of
Frances Payne Bolton, Reaching Out for Liberty and Light. Dawson is
also an adjunct associate professor in History at Case.
Karen Gracy ( http://www.slis.kent.edu/content/view/235/140/) is an
assistant professor in the School of Library and Information Science
at Kent State University. She holds a doctorate and master's in
Library and Information Science, and a master's in Critical Studies
of Film and Television all from the University of California, Los
Angeles, and a bachelor's in English and French from the University
of California, Berkeley. Her research interests are digital
preservation; preservation of moving images; preservation education;
social contexts of information creation and use, focusing on ethics
and values; and information policy, focusing on intellectual property
issues. She is author of Film Preservation: Competing Definitions of
Value, Use, and Practice (Society of American Archivists, 2007).
David H. Mould ( http://www.scrippscollege.ohio.edu/
administration_david_mould.aspx) is the associate dean for research
and graduate studies in the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio
University. He holds a doctorate from Ohio University's Individual
Interdisciplinary Program (History, American Literature, and
Geography), a master's in Radio-TV-Film, and a bachelor's in European
Studies. Mould's research areas are post-Soviet media, television and
film history, media in war and conflict, and oral history. He is co-
author of the forthcoming Catching Stories: A Practical Guide to Oral
History (Ohio University Press, 2009).
Stephen H. Paschen ( http://www.mellenpress.com/mellenpress.cfm?
aid=6014&pc=10) is the university archivist as well as assistant
professor in libraries and media services at Kent State University.
He holds a master's in Library and Information Science from Kent
State University, a master's in History from The University of Akron,
and a bachelor's in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State
University. He is co-author of the forthcoming Catching Stories: A
Practical Guide to Oral History (Ohio University Press, 2009).
HOST: The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center
The Hayes Presidential Center includes the home, library, museum,
tomb, and 25-acre park-like estate (called Spiegel Grove) of 19th
U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes. Entrance to the property is
through the original gates from the White House. Situated in
Northwest Ohio, the Hayes Center is located about 30 miles southeast
of Toledo, and 60 miles west of Cleveland, Ohio. The main entrance is
