Incarcerating Japanese Americans, 1942-2009

Professor Daniels will discuss the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II; the wartime Supreme Court decisions that, in effect, ratified that action; the 1989 law providing for redress payments of $20,000 to each person incarcerated; and the question: "Could it happen again?" He will also talk about the Japanese Americans who came to Cincinnati as part of the government's forced resettlement program during and after the war.
