A "Roundtable" Discussion on Business Continuity and Disaster Mitigation
Sponsored by the Ohio Preservation Council

Objective: To enable sharing of useful, shared, practical knowledge and experience regarding business continuity planning and disaster mitigation efforts in cultural heritage institutions represented in the Ohio Preservation Council (OPC) membership and its partners.
Presenters:
* Jason A. Crabill, Manager, Curatorial Services, Ohio Historical Society, speaking about Mold remediation at historic properties, 2011-12.
* Mark E. Briggs, ARM, CSP, Chief Risk Officer, Ohio State University, speaking about Developing and executing a request for proposal (RFP ) process to secure a full-service disaster response contractor, an outline of the Ohio State University effort in 2012.
About our presenters:
Jason Crabill is Manager of Curatorial Services in the Museum and Library Services Division at the Ohio Historical Society (OHS). His responsibilities include overseeing the curatorial staff, registrar's office, cataloging unit & digital services unit of the institution and, as a result, he has played a key role in several disaster mitigation projects at OHS. Jason is the project director of Ohio Memory, a collaborative digital library that includes 360 libraries, historical societies and museums; he is co-director for the Ohio Newspaper Digitization Project, Ohio's contribution to the Library of Congress's Chronicling America project. Jason studied Anthropology at Ohio University, received his MLIS from Kent State University, and is a 2011 graduate of the Seminar for Historical Administration.
Mark Briggs joined The Ohio State University (OSU) as Chief Risk Officer in 2011. In this position, Mark is responsible for centralized compliance, enterprise risk management, insurance management, business continuity, and related operations. Prior to joining OSU, Mark served as the vice president of Safety Management Resources for seven years and as risk manager for the University of Illinois for ten years.
Mr. Briggs earned a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University where he also served as an adjunct professor. He has earned the designations of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM). He is an instructor for FEMA's Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Higher Education and for the Department of Labor/OSHA. Mr. Briggs has completed numerous projects for FEMA, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Education. He has provided expert witness testimony in numerous legal proceedings and is a highly sought after speaker, including numerous annual and regional URMIA conferences.
