The collection includes: approximately 150 linear feet of archival documents (letters, records, journals, ephemera, etc.); over 100,000 photographic images of people and places in Sandusky and nearby locations; and artifacts, which are also part of the collections of the library's local history museum, the Follett House.

Under the supervision of the Archives Librarian, the successful applicant will process (using sound archival practices) a small collection of records from the local chapter of the Kiwanis Club, as well as contribute to a variety of other archives and local history activities. These tasks may include: basic preservation; arrangement and description; digital processing, including scanning images and posting to online catalogs and exhibits; creating and/or editing print and online finding aids; indexing (including developing subject terms for catalog records and historical documents); basic reference service (including assisting in-house researchers and genealogists, and answering research queries via mail and email); performing historical research for use in finding aids, online FAQs, blogs, and library programs; assist in developing online exhibits and/or public programs; assist in registrar functions relating to the library's local history collections. The internship may be tailored to fit the interests and skills of the successful applicant, consistent with the needs of the institution.
