[SOA] OhioDIG Meeting: May 21 - John Walko on AV digitization, practices & procedures

Please join the Ohio Digitization Interest Group at our May meeting at 10am on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Westerville Public Library.

Our discussion group meeting will include a presentation on "What do I do with all this stuff? Audiovisual digitization, practices and procedures."

John's presentation will cover: what makes preserving AV materials more challenging, dangers facing AV collections, IDing different formats, inspecting videotapes for suitability for transfer, how to prioritize, how do you know if it's a good transfer, what types of files to create, and data protection.

- Food: Coffee & cookies will be offered at the start of the meeting. Lunch will be brown bag. 
- Cost: There is no fee for attending, but we will be accepting donations for the coffee kitty.

- 10:00-10:30 coffee social (coffee & cookies);
- 10:30-11:30 presentation & discussion on topic;
- 11:30-11:45 break;
- 11:45-1:00 brown bag lunch: all-attendee updates, "members" meeting, discussion;
- 1:15- optional: small group discussions (user groups, birds of a feather)
