News from the Ohio Digital Network, a Digital Public Library of America Hub

The State Library of Ohio<https://asis.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0c06bfbaf68eda1e223463315&id=169bfd5d71&e=4275430dfd> will host a presentation on the Ohio Digital Network (ODN) and the Digital Public Library of America<https://asis.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0c06bfbaf68eda1e223463315&id=11825f1020&e=4275430dfd> (DPLA). DPLA is an all-digital library that brings together the metadata of digital objects from America’s libraries, museums and other cultural heritage institutions. The Ohio Digital Network<https://asis.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0c06bfbaf68eda1e223463315&id=e2db4ae7b2&e=4275430dfd> is a service hub for DPLA, which means it is an aggregator of metadata from Ohio institutions for DPLA. DPLA completed its first harvest of the ODN’s metadata in March of 2018. Now over 94,000 items<https://asis.us12.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0c06bfbaf68eda1e223463315&id=308762c2b7&e=4275430dfd> from across Ohio can be found in DPLA.

All four of our speakers are part of the implementation team from the State Library of Ohio:

  *   Missy Lodge - Associate State Librarian for Library Development
  *   Jen Johnson - Library Consultant for DPLA
  *   Penelope Shumaker - Metadata Librarian (and current CO-ASIS&T Secretary)
  *   Peter Kukla - Software Development Specialist

Join us live, for free, at the State Library of Ohio on Thursday, April 19th. Coffee and socializing will begin at 9:30 am with the speakers starting at 10:00. For those who cannot attend, we will also be offering an online option beginning at 10:00 am. Cost is free to ASIS&T members, but we are requiring a $5 fee for non-members to cover the cost of hosting the webinar. All attendees, live or online, will receive a recording of the webinar after the event.
