SAA's Preservation Section invites you to join us for our September Coffee Chat on Thursday, September 26th from 2-3 PM EST!
All are welcome to this free event, no preregistration is required, and please note that this event will not be recorded.
Staff transitions, whether unexpected or planned, can be stressful for all types and sizes of organizations, and the current outlook for the workforce pipeline is challenging. Knowledge transfer from staff and volunteers is critical in many areas of operations. And archives staff members may be hard pressed to make time for thoughtful succession planning amidst many competing priorities.
In 2023, members of fourteen cultural heritage and arts associations participated in a listening session supporting the Cultural Stewardship Succession Planning Initiative, a joint effort by the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) and Performing Arts Readiness (PAR), funded by a Museum Leadership Grant from the Institute for Museum & Library Services.
Insights from cultural and arts professionals across the country have led to the development of tools and resources to support better succession planning for cultural institutions.
Join Dyani Feige, Director of Preservation Services at CCAHA, and Tom Clareson, PAR Project Director, for an update on the project findings and a preview of current and forthcoming resources. After a brief presentation there will be ample time for a casual conversation about the project and the larger topic of succession planning.
