GREATER CINCINNATI LIBRARY CONSORTIUM APPOINTS
ANNE K. ABATE AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR*
Cincinnati, Ohio, August 4, 2004 -- The Greater Cincinnati Library
Consortium (GCLC) announces that Anne K. Abate has been selected to
serve as its next Executive Director. Anne assumes the Executive
Director responsibilities on August 2, 2004.
According to GCLC President Linda Behen, "Anne has a varied background
both in libraries and within our area library network. Her dedication
and enthusiasm will help to move GCLC forward and allow it to continue
its great heritage of service to the library community. We look forward
to our future with Anne in the leadership role."
Anne comes to GCLC with a wealth of experience. For the past four years
she has been the director of marketing for a large government
contractor. Anne has worked in a variety of library settings. She was
the director of a large law firm library in Cincinnati, and also held
positions in academic, public, and corporate libraries in the Cincinnati
area. Anne has a masters degree in library science and a doctorate in
computer technology in education. In addition to her work in libraries,
Anne is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Kentucky School
of Communications and Information Studies and at the Xavier University
Department of Information Systems. Anne has been an active member of
several professional associations, including the Special Libraries
Association and American Association of Law Libraries. She served on
the Board of Directors of the Special Libraries Association from
1997-1999. She is currently the Chair of the Ohio Council of Libraries
and Information Services.
