Apologies for cross-postings.

We've added another Summer Reading Program Workshop!

The Workshop at the State Library of Ohio in Columbus on March 12 sold out
quickly so we're repeating the workshop on TUESDAY, MARCH 16, 9:30am -
3:30pm.

Discover New Trails @ Your Library is the theme for the 2004 Summer Reading
Program (SRP). To register for the Tuesday, March 16 SRP Workshop go to
http://www.slocem.lib.oh.us/ and click on "current ... SLO workshops" to
view the 2004 workshop schedule and information.

The 2004 Summer Reading Program is a collaborative project of twenty-seven
states. The states worked together to provide high quality summer reading
program materials for children at the lowest cost possible for public
libraries. This year's theme is "Discover New Trails @ Your Library"
opening up a world of possibilities for children's librarians to create
summer reading opportunities and projects for their patrons.

The SRP Workshops held at the State Library on March 12 (sold-out) and March
16 (space still available!) will feature presentations, craft
demonstrations, and displays based on the 2004 Summer Reading Program
manual. Speakers include Barbara Scott (Bucyrus Public Library), Ellen Gee
(Marysville Public Library) and Betty Sheridan (Upper Arlington Public
Library), plus a representative from the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources, and Linda Tiffany who is Librarian at the Center for Discovery,
at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Ms. Tiffany will speak about how a
library goes about thinking up and putting together it's own Summer Reading
Program.

Seating is limited to 50 people at the March 16th workshop. Please register
early to secure your place in the audience.

If you have any questions about the Summer Reading Program Workshops and/or
about how to register, please contact Jo Kimmet at lpd@sloma.state.oh
