GRANT OPPORTUNITY

The Starbucks Foundation has announced funding for its Youth Leadership
Grants Program.  Two types of funds are available: Power of Literacy grants
and Leaders in Diversity grants.  Proposals must focus their activities on
youth ages 6-18 and involve Starbuck partners.

Under Power of Literacy funds may be used for activities such as afterschool
writing and literacy programs, tutoring projects for low income youth, and
family literacy events.

Under Leaders in Diversity funds may be used for activities such as
workshops to build youth awareness of diverse populations, anti-prejudice
programs at schools and camps of teens facing discrimination.

Applicants may apply for one of two levels of funding.
Local Grants range from $5,000 - $10,000 and involve at least one Starbucks
store.
Regional grants of up to $20,000 must involve three or more Starbucks stores
and provide services to a major metropolitan area or region.

Deadline for applications is October 1, 2004.
