Position Posting:  Children's Team Leader

Responsibilities of the Position:
Specialist's knowledge of Children's literature
Collection development and maintenance=20
Patron assistance, including advanced research, for children, teens, =
parents, teachers, and others
Staff leadership & development: employee development, oversight, task =
assignment, feedback, and performance evaluations
Program administration and alignment with library mission: planning, =
procurement, execution, and evaluation
Annual planning to meet WCPL goals and assure quality children's programmin=
g; monthly progress and service reports
Collaborative work with other Youth Services Team Leaders=20
Representation of Children's work to other Departments and Management
Clear communication of departmental objectives and plans, horizontally and =
vertically=20
Marketing, project management, and fiscal management duties
Must provide personal transportation required for external service =
obligations and requirements between library facilities.
Other tasks/projects as assigned

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:
MLS from an ALA accredited institution or related Master's Degree plus =
work experience
Minimum of 4 years experience working with children, teens, or comparable =
course work
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience with directly reporting staff
Strong knowledge and experience in collection development for all =
Children's media
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Proficient in the skills required for success (see Responsibilities, =
above)
Ability to meet schedule requirements, including some nights and weekends
Collaborative style: able to achieve consensus and maintain a sense of =
humor

Reporting, Pay Range and Benefits:
The position reports to the Operations Manager and coordinates laterally =
with the Children's and Teen Team Leaders at the sister site.  The pay =
range for the position is $18.00 - $ 25.00 per hour plus a 22.05% net pay =
increase through an employer-paid contribution to the Public Employees =
Retirement System.  An excellent benefit package is also provided.
