March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Colorectal Cancer is the second
most common cause of cancer deaths in the United States. More than 50,000
people will die this year. This is a very curable disease with early
detection and treatment. Your first question should be: what can I do to
protect myself? Your response: Visit NetWellness. Our colorectal diseases
expert, Janice Frederick Rafferty, MD, is available to answer your questions
about colorectal cancer as well as other diseases of the colon and rectum.

Feature Center: University Memory and Aging Center

The University Memory and Aging Center affiliated with Case Western Reserve
University and University Hospitals of Cleveland. Experts from the
University Memory and Aging Center answer user questions and write original
content for NetWellness' section on Alzheimer's Disease.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a major public health problem for the United
States because it has such a huge impact on individuals, families, the
health care system, and society. Scientists estimate that up to 4 million
Americans now have AD. By 2050, 14 million older Americans are expected to
have Alzheimer's disease if the current numbers hold and no preventive
treatments become available. For the past decade, the mission of the
University Memory and Aging Center has been to promote the best possible
care for persons with memory disorders and their families through an
integrated program of clinical services, research, and education. The
University Memory and Aging Center is the only federally funded facility in
the state of Ohio specifically designated by the National Institute on Aging
as an Alzheimer's disease Research Center.

The University Memory and Aging Center serves individuals and families
dealing with all types of memory loss, including mild or troubling
forgetfulness, as well as the more severe symptoms caused by AD, vascular
dementia, Parkinson's disease and other conditions. For additional
information on the University Memory and Aging Center, please call
216-844-6400 or 1-800-252-5048.
