Don't Miss Out On These Great Upcoming Workshops Offered By SERLS! 

 

1/18/07, SERLS building, Wellston: Microsoft Windows Shared Computer Toolkit

Dan Will, Technology Supervisor for the Meigs County District Public
Library, will discuss issues pertaining to the Windows Shared Computer
Toolkit, including hardware requirements, installation issues, creating
profiles, restricting users, Windows Automatic Updates, and Antivirus
updates. If you are thinking about installing this program on your library's
computers, then you won't want to miss this workshop! Participants can even
bring their own computer to practice installation and troubleshooting if
they like, although this is not required. 10:00 am- 4:00 pm. Cost: $0 for
libraries with an Enhanced Membership, $20 for all others. 

 

2/6/07, SEO Annex, Caldwell: Technology Trends 2007

What technology trends will be hot in 2007? Glen Horton, Technology
Coordinator for SWON Regional Library System, will lead a discussion of
recent and emerging trends in technology and how libraries will be affected
by these trends. Discussion will focus on trends relating to desktop/mobile
computing, storage, software, networking, and the Internet. 12:30- 3:30 pm.
Cost: $0 for Enhanced Members, $60 for all other libraries. 

 

2/15/07, John McIntire Library, Zanesville: Bringing Boys Into the Library
and Using Puppets in Story Time

Don't miss the opportunity to attend two great workshops focusing on
children's programming. In the morning, Amy Brown and Molly Meyers of the
Worthington Public Library System will discuss how to use Gardner's Theory
of Multiple Intelligences to tailor-make programming that will be a hit with
boys! You will leave this program with an understanding of boys and
literacy, multiple intelligences, and how to take topics you already love
and create programs that attract boys.

9:30- 11:30 am. Cost: $0 for Enhanced Members, $20 for all other libraries. 

In the afternoon, Cathy Williams and Todd Grazier of Columbus Metropolitan
Library will be teaching participants how to successfully use puppets in
their story times. This hands-on workshop will give participants the
opportunity to break into groups and practice their puppeting techniques,
and then use their creativity to make their own puppet to keep!"

12:30-4:00 pm. Cost: $0 for Enhanced Members, $35 for all other libraries. 

 

2/20/07, SERLS Building, Wellston: Microsoft Excel XP/2003 Basic

Led by John Paul of Winsoft Computer Education Inc., this course will
provide participants with a solid understanding of spreadsheet mechanics.
The student will learn the basics of formula creation, including manual
computations, the order of operations, and Excel's built-in functions. For
employees new to using Excel, this workshop is a great introduction. 

9:00 am- 4:30 pm. Cost: $0 for Enhanced Members, $60 for all other
libraries. 

 

2/21/07, SERLS Building, Wellston: Microsoft Excel XP/2003 Intermediate

For those already familiar with basic Excel skills, but who would like to
increase their productivity and learn more advanced techniques. Participants
will learn methods of linking data between cells, worksheets, and workbooks
to create dynamic spreadsheets. Additional topics include password
protection and the inclusion of range names to simplify formula creation.
There will be a heavy emphasis on database utilities.

9:00 am- 4:30 pm. Cost: $0 for Enhanced Members, $60 for all other
libraries.
