JOB OPENING

 

Circulation Services Coordinator

Wright Memorial Public Library, Dayton (Oakwood)

 

*	Full time 37.5 hours/week
*	Health and dental insurance provided
*	Nights and weekends required
*	Starts at $16.21/hour 

 

Reports to: Library director 

Supervises: Two full time and four part time employees

 

Responsibilities:

*	Schedules and trains staff to cover public service hours at checkout
desk 
*	Hires, fires, and evaluates circulation staff according to library
policy
*	Enforces library circulation policy and patron behavior policy in a
professional manner while maintaining good public relations
*	Reviews and recommends updates to circulation policies
*	Stays current and skilled in use of computers
*	Responds in a skilled and professional manner to patrons'

complaints and concerns about their library accounts or library circulation
policies 

*	Works daily shifts at circulation desk
*	Serves as part of library management team, working with director and
other department coordinators 
*	Works on other projects as assigned by library director

 

Necessary abilities:

*	Ability to supervise staff
*	Ability to multi-task 
*	Ability to work well under pressure
*	Ability to communicate well with the public and staff and to handle
difficult situations with tact
*	Ability to coordinate circulation issues and procedures with other
library departments
*	Skill and physical ability to work with computers
*	Physical ability to handle library materials and equipment such as
books and book carts

 

Acceptable training and experience:

*	Considerable library experience in a public service position
*	Supervisory experience
*	Considerable experience with an automated library circulation system
*	Bachelors degree, or combination of training and experience that
provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
