      Speaker(s)

Patricia Anderson Pryor is a partner in the Labor and Employment 
Department of Taft, Stettinius and Hollister. She advises businesses in 
managing all aspects of the employment relationship. Ms. Pryor has been 
featured on the radio program "Employment Straight Talk". She serves on 
the boards of Boys & Girls Club of Clermont County, the Clermont Public 
Library, ReSource, and Clermont 20/20 Vision for Leadership. Ms. Pryor 
received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.


      Description

There are many pitfalls that land employers into trouble, both in terms 
of employee relations and legal woes. Most employers who find themselves 
in a lawsuit did not intentionally do anything wrong, but because of 
missteps in the process are, nevertheless, looking at hefty legal fees 
and liability exposure. Many of these missteps can be avoided when 
employers know (1) what the warning signs of trouble are, and (2) how to 
respond to these signs.

This seminar will cover: Tips on handling discipline, terminations, and 
performance evaluations effectively and in a manner that minimizes 
litigation risk; tips on managing leaves of absence and the malingering 
employee; tips on recognizing and responding to employee complaints; 
tips on avoiding documentation pitfalls and learning what/what not to 
document; and tips on avoiding pitfalls in the technological age with 
e-mail and computers.
