Speaker(s)
Carol Bradsher is a library consultant with over twenty years of
experience in libraries. She has designed and presented training
sessions for the Ohio Library Council, Ohio regional library systems,
the State Library of West Virginia, the Kentucky Dept. of Libraries and
Archives, and also developed the successful "Guerilla cataloging" series
for INFOhio. In addition to her cataloging and training experience, she
also worked as a consultant for OPLIN to implement MORE, the Ohio
statewide resource-sharing program.
Participants in Ms. Bradsher's training sessions frequently cite her
sense of humor and her ability to explain cataloging concepts in simple
terms, but her favorite workshop evaluation comment is, "Very
effective-- first time I attended a MARC workshop and didn't fall
asleep," which she considers high praise indeed.
Description
Audiobooks come in many flavors these days-- books on cassette, books on
CD, and books on computer. This workshop will build your confidence in
cataloging these items, as well as evaluating vendor-supplied
cataloging. Participants will learn to create a description of the item,
provide access by names, titles, and subjects, and code the
bibliographic information into MARC format. Participants are encouraged
to bring items for practice.
Meal
Continental breakfast will be provided; lunch is on your own.
