TITLE:  Head of Reference/Archives
 
ORGANIZATION: Hudson Library & Historical Society
 
LOCATION: 96 Library Street    Hudson, Oh  44236
 
HOURS: 38 hrs/wk; including evening and weekend hours
 
SALARY:  $35,000
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Seeking a creative, customer-oriented Reference Manager with excellent communication skills to head the reference department.  Position requires flexibility, creativity and leadership abilities as well as strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will supervise a staff of 6 librarians and paraprofessionals and will  provide patron and reference service at the general service desk, as well as assist researchers and archives patrons in the fields of local history and genealogy. The Head of Reference/Archives will work with the Assistant Director to coordinate adult/archival programs and promote reference services to area businesses and other targeted groups.  
 
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited university and a minimum 5 years experience as a Reference Librarian in a public library setting. Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of print and online resources, Internet and basic computer skills. Knowledge of business resources and web design a plus. Positive attitude and leadership skills a must.
