[OPLINLIST] Dr. Carolyn Brodie of KSU-SLIS featured in School Library Journal

Dr. Carolyn S. Brodie, professor, School of Library and Information Science at Kent State University, is on the cover of August's issue of School Library Journal and the subject of a feature story by editor-in-chief Brian Kenney.



Brodie was awarded the 2008 Scholastic Library Publishing Award from the American Library Association (ALA). The annual award is bestowed on a librarian whose extraordinary contributions to promoting access to books and encouraging a love of reading for lifelong learning exemplify outstanding achievement in the profession. The award was presented Tuesday, July 1, during the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, California and Brodie received a $1000 prize and a gold framed citation donated by Scholastic Library Publishing.



The article highlights Brodie's outstanding career at Kent State and her influence in revitalizing youth services in Ohio, not only in the academic realm, but in public, school, and special libraries. Through curriculum development, librarian training, collaborative initiatives, and grarnt writing, Brodie has set a national standard of excellence in every facet of youth librarianship.
