Greetings, friends!

Take a look at these upcoming workshops in July!

Getting a Second Life: An Introduction to the Metaverse for Libraries

What is Second Life, and how does it relate to libraries? What are libraries
already doing in this virtual world (and should mine be there, too)? What's
involved in getting involved? Come prepared to toss aside preconceived ideas
and assumptions while you get answers to these questions and learn about the
world's most popular online virtual environment. This session will include
some hands-on exploration of some areas of Second Life.

Acquisitions: New directions and best practices

This workshop will discuss best practices in low cancellation ordering, 9xx
download ordering and x12 serial claiming (also known as EDI--Electronic
Data Interchange). Better management of colleague and vendor relationships
will be discussed as well. Participants will walk away from this workshop
with a clearer understanding of how to use the latest Acquisitions
technology and develop better vendor relationships to improve their
Acquisitions data, decrease acquisition time and better serve their internal
and external customers.

Fundamentals of Cataloging: Description

The Fundamentals of Cataloging series covers the basics of cataloging in
five sessions. Attend all the sessions or only the ones of interest. In the
first session, we will cover descriptive cataloging. Learn about the
principles, rules and tools for bibliographic records that describes the
material in hand. We will cover creating entries for author, title,
publication information, physical description, series, and other aspects of
a complete bibliographic description.

Sincerely,

Evan
