Speaker(s)
*Donald Crews*, this one at least, is not a children's book author and
illustrator. He is Reference Librarian at the Delhi Township Branch, a
large suburban branch of PLCH. His concentration is serving the adult
patrons' interests, including programming and book discussions. Donald
figures this is either his second or third career which gives him a
somewhat unique perspective on librarianship.
Donald's interest in book clubs and adult reading has led him to work on
a librarything.com <http://www.librarything.com/> "tool" for sharing
book club info within the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County
librarian community.
Description
Library book clubs should make books come alive and be a jumping-off
point for more reading, learning and enjoying. Book clubs are a great
way to connect with your patrons and to reconnect you and your patrons
to books. Find ways to pick titles, prepare and plan for your club
meetings and borrow and share your experiences with colleagues.
*Hands on opportunities* will show participants ways to use book clubs
to promote the library and its services. Find out how websites like
librarything.com <http://www.librarything.com/> can help you pick, share
and promote your book discussions. If you're ready to start a book club
or you want to take your library book club to another level, this
workshop is for you!
