[OPLINLIST] Processing question

I am probably going to show my age by asking this question, but here goes
the question anyway.

How many of you still "collate" new books (go through them page by page to
make sure the print is legible, pages are in the correct sequence, pages not
upside down, etc.)? It seems a very time consuming task that doesn't add
much value to what we do or benefit the public in a substantial way. It
eats up tons of staff time in which staff appears to be doing nothing but
"sitting around reading books all day" ; and we don't watch all the DVD's
CD's, etc. that we purchase.
