      Description

Also known as "Third-Party Harassment" or Non-Employee Harassment", this
workshop addresses what action employees should take when they feel they
are being harassed by non-employees (patrons, vendors, contractors,
consultants etc...) and the proactive steps that library management and
their governing boards and administration should take to protect their
employees, libraries and themselves from harassing behaviors and the
problems the behaviors may cause.

This highly interactive training, involves small group discussions and
the use of various learning tools including case studies and a short pre
and post assessment. The training will also include practical
information on harassment prevention and correction, discussion, a
question and answer session and other effective learning techniques.
Participants will receive a generic three page "No Harassment Policy" to
customize for use in their library workplaces.

As a result of this workshop participants will learn more about:
. What Non-employee harassment is; sorting out the myths from the facts
. The preferred verbiage to use when you are being harassed by someone
to protect themselves
. The appropriate actions to take when you are being harassed at work
. The 5 questions every management team should ask to begin assessing
problems of harassment in their workplace
. The 2 primary mechanisms for an environment free of harassment from
any source
. Information to revise their current anti-harassment policies and
handbooks to incorporate statements specific to harassment by
nonemployees (Bring a copy of your policy for the review)
. The latest on EEOC Guidelines and court cases regarding non-employee
harassment
