Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) Competitive Grant
Videoconference 

Who: Director of ABLE Denise Pottmeyer and state staff; Current and
prospective ABLE program providers, including local education agencies,
public and private nonprofit agencies and community-based organizations.

What: Will review the FY 2010 ABLE Competitive Grant Award Request for
Proposals (RFP) and answer questions from proposing agencies and
organizations. Two RFPs were released on April 3, 2009. The ABLE
Instructional Grant and the English Literacy and Civics Grant RFPs are
available at www.uso.edu/network/workforce/rfps. 

When: 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Where: At videoconference hubs throughout the State of Ohio. Register at
www.ohioable.org/calendar.html, where you will choose the site where you
will participate. The hubs are located in various County Department of
Job and Family Services offices in different geographic regions of the
state. Each hub has a limited number of seats available. If your
preferred site is closed to new registrants, you will need to select
another site.

Registration closes Friday, April 17, at 5 p.m.

About the Ohio Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program

As part of the University System of Ohio, 116 ABLE programs serve adults
who have less than a twelfth grade education or its functional
equivalent and who are beyond the age of compulsory school attendance
(age 18 in Ohio). Adult literacy services include basic skills, GED
preparation/adult secondary education, English for Speakers of Other
Languages, family literacy, workplace literacy, corrections education,
distance education and instruction in life skills, employability skills
