Libraries are essential - but are your stakeholders getting the message?  Recession and shrinking budgets are reducing access to library services now, when they're need most.   Are you successfully demonstrating your value to your community? your faculty? your parent organization?    It's more important than ever.  Whether you work in a public, private or academic library, our distinguished panelists have insights to share.  
 
"For What It's Worth: Demonstrating Your Library's Value to Stakeholders"
 
is a special program of the Central Ohio Chapters of the Special Libraries Association and the American Society for Information Science & Technology.  Join us on Tuesday August 3rd, 2010, when Chris Taylor of Columbus Metropolitan Library, Scottie Cochrane of Dennison University, Kem Lang of Battelle Memorial Institute and Larry Olszewski of OCLC are our panelists.

Chris Taylor has been with the Columbus Metropolitan Library for 22 years.  In 2007, she became Deputy Director, with responsibility for the Public Services Department, including the Main Library, 20 branches and Outreach.   From 2003 to 2007 she was Strategic Projects Director, responsible for quality and process improvement, strategic planning, statistics and performance measures and the technical services department.  She currently serves as leader of the Management Team.  
Larry Olszewski, Director of the OCLC Library, has been with OCLC for 23 years.  He has a doctorate from The Ohio State University and a master's degree from Kent State University.  An educator, contributor to professional library publications, and leader in special librarianship, he is also an international speaker on library issues.  
Kemberly Lang is Library Manager for Battelle Memorial Institute Library.   The Library primarily serves the research needs of its scientists and researchers and has locations in Columbus, Ohio and Seattle, Washington.  In 2007, the Library joined the Knowledge Management organization within Battelle.   Kem has been with Battelle Library since 1986 and became Manager in 1990.  She is currently enrolled in the Knowledge Management Certificate Program in the IAKM School at Kent State University.
Lynn Scott (Scottie) Cochrane, has been Director of Libraries at Denison University since 2000.  Over the past 40 years, she has worked in academic libraries at six institutions, starting as a paraprofessional at Penn State and completing her MSLS at the Catholic University of America in 1980.  Her 1998 PhD dissertation is on the National Archives' presidential library system as a policy subsystem.
