The results of the 2010 Ohio Summer Reading Program Evaluation have been
posted to WebJunction Ohio at:

Many thanks to the 253 individuals, representing 218 public library
systems, who responded to this year's online survey.

These respondents reported a total of 386,683 people participating in
summer reading programs across Ohio in 2010, including 269,662 children,
50,819 teens, and 66,202 adults. 45% of respondents reported that their
SRP participation increased over last year, while 34% reported that SRP
participation decreased. Economic factors were almost universally cited
as reason for drops in participation, though some libraries noted that
economic factors actually increased the level of participation in their
programs.

For the complete SRP Evaluation report, which includes data on
participation, themes, program length, tracking methods, resources and
incentives, planning, and workshops, please see
http://oh.webjunction.org/ohsumread/-/articles/content/108497087.

There, you can also download 2 appendixes, which include all comments
and suggestions submitted by survey respondents. One appendix focuses
on SRP workshops offered by the regional library systems. The other
compiles feedback regarding the Collaborative Summer Library Program
2010 and 2011 themes, CSLP manuals and other resources, the CSLP vendor
(Upstart/Highsmith), the Ohio State Fair and Ohio State Parks incentives
and ODNR Explore the Outdoors program, and general suggestions and
comments.

All data and narrative feedback related to CSLP themes, manuals,
resources, and vendor has been forwarded to the CSLP, to be shared with
its working committees for future planning. The SRP Workshops report
has been shared with the CE coordinators at the four regional library
systems. Feedback on the Ohio State Fair and ODNR offerings will be
shared with those agencies shortly.

Please contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Janet
