Library Assistant VI – Adult Services

The Fairfield County District Library is seeking a part time (20 hours per week) Library Assistant VI in the Adult Services department.  The Library Assistant will work as part of a team to provide the highest quality of public library service by providing excellent customer service, including: answering basic directional questions; assisting reference librarians in answering more complex reference inquiries; helping customers locate materials in the library; helping to maintain orderly collections of materials in a variety of formats; assisting customers with library equipment such as copiers, the online catalog, microform equipment and PCs; providing training to customers and staff on the basics of PCs, PAC use and eBook use; providing reader’s advisory service; and answering and directing phone inquiries.

Position requires a BS degree or higher.  Experience in school or public library setting preferred.  Excellent skills in computer applications, particularly with Microsoft Office products, are required. This is a Bargaining Unit position with hourly pay of $14.48 per hour.
