Greetings!
Please mark your calendars:
Ohioana Book Award Finalist Carla Buckley will be visit the main branch of
the Tuscarawas County Public Library System (121 Fair Avenue in New
Philadelphia) on Thursday, June 23rd at 7PM. Her visit marks the third
installment in the library system's 2011 Author Series program.
Buckley is the debut novelist of 2010's The Things That Keep Us Here, which
has been hailed by the Los Angeles Times as "a knockout debut of the
decade." Its premise centers on a flu pandemic that forces a family on the
brink of separation to band together in the face of crisis.
In April, the Ohioana Library in Columbus announced that Buckley was a
finalist for its Book Award in Fiction for The Things That Keep Us Here. The
novel was also recently chosen as a Breakout Book at Target stores
nationwide.
Buckley chairs the International Thriller Writers Debut Program and lives in
Ohio with her husband, children, and two dogs. Bantam Dell will publish her
next book, Invisible, in 2012.
The author will sign copies of The Things That Keep Us Here, which will be
available for purchase ($15), after the program concludes.
Multiple copies of Buckley's debut are on display and available for checkout
at the library's New Philadelphia location.
Admission to the event is free. Registration is required by calling
330-364-4474.
