Library Appreciation Week Celebrated with Ohio Author Day & Book Fair 

Come to the Hudson Library & Historical Society on Saturday, April 9, for an all -day celebration to kick off National Library Week. The entire day will feature events for readers, writers and authors. 

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. the Learned Owl Book Store will host a Book Club with Ohio author, P. L. Gaus, in the library's Laurel Lake room. Patrons are invited to read his book, Blood of the Prodigal, for discussion with the author. Books are available for purchase at the Owl or to borrow from the library. 





>From 11:00 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m., for the writer in all of us, a panel discussion comprised of area authors will discuss the trials and tribulations of writing and publishing a book. Featured panelists from The University of Akron Press include: Steve Love, freelance writer and a former journalist, author of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and The Holden Arboretum , as well as co-author of The Golden Dream and Wheels of Fortune and Hiram College faculty member; Joyce Dyer, writer of memoirs including Goosetown: Reconstructing an Akron Neighborhood and Gum-Dipped: A Daughter Remembers Rubber Town. Gumdrop book was nominated for Book of the Year by Appalachian Writers Association; Jen Hirt will discuss writing creative non-fiction. She is the author of Under Glass: The Girl with a Thousand Christmas Tree; Eric Wasserman, assistant professor of English at the University of Akron and Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts program in Creative Writing. He has won several awards for his fiction work including the Cervena Barva Press Fiction Chapbook Price for his story Brothers. 




>From 1:00 – 4:00, more than two dozen authors will attend the Ohio Author Book Fair. Writers who have penned everything from histories to murder mysteries, romance to children books will be available to discuss, autograph and sell their books.
