[OPLINLIST] "Project Compass: Libraries lead the workforce for the 21st century" workshop -- General registration now available

The State Library of Ohio is pleased to be collaborating with
WebJunction and the State Library of North Carolina as part of their
IMLS grant to bolster library-based responses to communities impacted by
the recession.  Workshops are being conducted to reach and support
library staff who are guiding the struggling workforce.   Topic areas to
be covered at the workshops are Job Seekers, Small
Business/Entrepreneurs, and Financial Literacy.  

Through a careful data analysis, the project has identified a limited
number of states with the highest unemployment numbers over a 14-month
period and has invited them to participate in the grant program.  

Eight workshops have been scheduled between April 13 and June 9, 2011.
Priority for attendance was given to one individual from each of the 221
public libraries located in a county with over 9.1 unemployment. 

 

Registration for the workshops is limited to 30 - 35 individuals,
depending on the each site.  Remaining seats at each location are now
open for general registration.

            April 13             Champaign County Library 

            April 27             Logan Hocking County District Public
Library

            May 4               Greenfield Branch, Highland County
District Library

            May 11             Wood County District Public Library

            May 17             Ashland Public Library 

            May 18             Schiappa Branch, Public Library of
Steubenville and Jefferson County

            June 8              Ritter Public Library 

            June 9              Stow Munroe Public Library 

 

All workshops are 10:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
