[OPLINLIST] Update: Statewide Delivery RFP Released

The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) released the Request for
Proposal (RFP) for Statewide Library Delivery Services today, February
1, 2012, on behalf of OhioLINK and the State Library. It will be posted
through February 15, 2012, at 1 p.m. for vendors to bid on.  Review of
the proposals will begin immediately following the RFP closing date with
the contract to be tentatively awarded no later than February 24, 2012.
The new contract is due to begin on March 6, 2012.

The U.S. Cargo contract is scheduled to end on March 6, 2012.  

 

The State Library will be discussing transition plans with OhioLINK and
DAS after a new contract is awarded.  It is likely that there will be a
two to three day change in delivery services as we move from one vendor
to the next.  Also, the new vendor will need time to develop routes and
create new delivery windows, so service may be different under the new
vendor, at least for the first few weeks.  The State Library will spend
considerable time working with the new vendor between February 24 and
March 6 to assure that this transition goes as smoothly as possible.
Even so, a change in vendor is likely to impact pick-up and delivery
schedules, and we encourage you to notify your patrons well in advance.
