We had a zombie prom for Halloween. It was a HUGE success and an
absolute blast!!

 1. We hired a DJ to provide the music - including "Thriller"; he made
sure he used the "edited" versions of the popular songs and he also had
a light show - so we had the room pretty dark. We did request that no
slow songs be played. Our DJ was FABULOUS - his name is Marc Morris and
he can be reached at 740.361.4554.
2. We had it for 12 - 18 yr olds only. Parents and younger siblings
were welcome to stay in the library, but had to leave the prom. (We
made sure to have extra employee chaperones)
3. A Jello brain mold is a must with gummy worms added after it is
unmolded. (Try the two-toned "oozing brain" recipe from
kraftrecipes.com.) Make ice "hands" with latex gloves. (Make sure to
make extra b/c some of the fingers will break off when you tear off the
latex.)
4. We also made sure to have LOTS of pop and snacks to keep them
dancing. Tables were decorated with black tablecloths and candy bowls.
Battery operated votive candles are nice.
5. Of course, costumes were encouraged for both teens and staff.
6. In addition, we had a place where the teens could get their Prom
photos. We had the area decorated with tombstones and had our "Zombie
Prom 2011" on the wall behind them. Make sure to have a dedicated staff
member just for taking pictures! The next day, we had their pictures
ready for them to pick up.

BTW - the kids younger than 12 were upset that they couldn't come - so
maybe you could have a junior prom for them.

We have already started to look forward to the next Halloween dance!
