*Best-Selling Christian Author to Visit Tuscarawas County*

DOVER/NEW PHILADELPHIA – Kevin Malarkey, author of *The Boy Who Came Back
from Heaven*, has scheduled events at the Dover Public Library and the
Tuscarawas County Public Library this summer.

On Thursday, July 26th, Malarkey will visit the Dover Public Library (525
North Walnut Street) at 7:00PM. On Saturday, August 11th at 2:00PM, the
Tuscarawas County Public Library has scheduled a visit that will take place
in the downstairs fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church (201
West High Avenue in New Philadelphia).

Malarkey is a Christian therapist with a counseling practice near Columbus,
Ohio. He attended the College of Wooster and earned a graduate degree from
Ohio State University. His academic background includes studies in clinical
psychology, psychological assessment, and family counseling.

In November 2004, Malarkey and his son, Alex, were involved in a horrific
car accident that left Alex presumed dead on the scene. Alex survived but
suffered traumatic injury to his brain and an internal decapitation.

After two months in a coma, however, Alex slowly learned to speak again and
had incredible things to say about where he’d been: of events at the
accident scene and in the hospital while unconscious, of unearthly music,
of the angels that took him through the gates of heaven, and of speaking
with Jesus Christ. The story is detailed in Kevin’s book, *The Boy Who Came
Back from Heaven* (Tyndale House Publishers).

“Our library has noticed a definite increase in the number of patrons who
are interested in books with faith-based themes,” says Dover Public Library
Circulation Manager Paula Fawcett. “It is exciting to be able to bring a
New York Times best-selling author such as Kevin Malarkey to the Tuscarawas
Valley. We are hoping the churches in the Valley take advantage of the
opportunities to find out more about Kevin’s amazing story.”

Extension & Technical Services Manager Andrea Legg said that the book’s
message will resonate with those who have read Todd Burpo’s best
seller, *Heaven
Is for Real*. “Readers are starting to gravitate towards these real-life
stories of hope and perseverance in the face of seemingly insurmountable
odds,” she said. “It’s a terrific trend to watch.”

Copies of *The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven *will be available for
purchase at both locations. A book signing will follow the programs.

Admission to both events is free. Registration for the event at the Dover
Public Library may be done by calling 330-343-6123. Registration for the
event at the First United Methodist Church may be done by calling the
Tuscarawas County Public Library at 330-364-4474 ext 101.
