Union Hospital’s Community Health & Wellness office and the Dover Public
Library have partnered to bring in internationally renowned surgeon and
researcher Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn to Dover’s First Moravian Church on
Thursday, November 15th at 7:00 PM. Dr. Esselstyn, who is the author of
the ground-breaking book, *Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, *will be
speaking about how heart disease can be prevented, reversed, and even
abolished based on your diet. Based on the groundbreaking results of a
twenty-year nutritional study Dr. Esselstyn’s book illustrates that a
plant-based, oil-free diet can not only prevent and stop the progression of
heart disease but can also reverse its effects.

Dr. Esselstyn was a researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic for
more than thirty-five years. In 1991, he served as the president of the
American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and organized the first National
Conference on the Elimination of Heart Disease. In 2005, he became the
first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine. Dr.
Esselstyn and his wife, Ann Crile Esselstyn, have followed a plant-based
diet for more than twenty years. They work together to counsel patients in
Cleveland and at the farm in upstate New York where Dr. Esselstyn grew up. Dr.
Esselstyn is also featured in the award-winning documentary film, *Forks
Over Knives *and the CNN special program, “The Last Heart Attack.”

Copies of *Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease *are available for checkout at
the Dover Public Library. Refreshments, provided by Dover Healthy
Alternatives, and a book signing will follow the program. The Dover First
Moravian Church is located at 319 N. Walnut Street in Dover. For more
information or to register for this free program, please contact the Dover
Public Library at 330-343-6123 or Union Hospital’s Community Health and
Wellness Office at 330-602-0779.
