Registration is now open for the Society of Ohio Archivists fall
workshop, "Connecting Treasured Pasts & Bright Futures." Once again, SOA
is partnering with the Ohio Local History Alliance for its annual
conference on October 4 & 5 at the Holiday Inn Columbus-Worthington.   

 

The SOA session track will feature two mini-workshops, "Reference Basics
for Archivists" and "Archivists and Teachers: A Winning Combination,"
both led by Danna C. Bell-Russel. Bell-Russel is an educational outreach
specialist at the Library of Congress and president of the Society of
American Archivists.  

 

The schedule for SOA sessions on Friday, October 4 is:

 

*         9:00-9:50 - Reference Basics for Archivists, part 1

*         10:05-10:55 - Reference Basics for Archivists, part 2

*         11:20-12:10 - Archivists and Teachers: A Winning Combination,
part 1

*         1:40-2:30 - Archivists and Teachers: A Winning Combination,
part 2

*         2:50-3:50 - Ask An Archivist

 

Participants will also be able to attend any of the great Alliance
sessions on the Friday program, and have the option to attend a full day
of sessions on Saturday as well. (Download the full brochure here:

Additional events on Friday include the keynote and lunch and evening
reception. The keynote features Larry L. Nelson, BGSU Firelands College,
speaking on the War of 1812 in Ohio. The reception, hosted by the
Worthington Historical Society, will tour four historic sites where
costumed interpreters will share the history of the sites. Light hors
d'oeuvres and beverages will be available inside the Old Worthington
Rectory.

Pre-registration includes the opportunity to sign up for the lunch and
keynote address ($19). Mail-in registration will be accepted after
September 20, as well as onsite registration, but no guarantee of lunch.

 

Rates are: 

*	10/4 (Friday) only  = $45
*	10/4 - 10/5 - SOA Member = $65
*	10/4 - 10/5 - Non-Member = $85
*	10/5 (Saturday) only  = $45
*	Students receive a 40% discount with valid ID

*	10/4 Lunch and Keynote = $19
*	10/4 Reception - SOA Member = $15
*	10/4 Reception - Non-Member = $18
