Library Customer Service Specialist II (full-time)

Introductory Information: 
Functionally supervises and monitors day-to-day circulation desk and library operations at the Eastern Campus of cuyahoga Community College. Normal operating hours of the library are 8 am – 8 pm M-TH 9 am -2 pm F & S. 
Responsibilities: 
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: *Provides orientation and training to part-time staff. *Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow. *Organizes, prioritizes and delegates duties to unit support staff and proofs work for compliance. *Tracks Learning Commons data, compiles reports and recommends methods for improved collection of data. *Standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of circulation desk work flow. *Reports and assists supervisor to resolve concerns from staff, faculty and students. *Organizes, processes, and manages the collection of course reserve materials. *Maintains shelf order of circulating, periodical, and reference materials. *Provides support to faculty librarians in collection management (development and deselection). *As needed, performs the duties of a Library Customer Service Specialist I, including staffing the circulation desk, discharging and charging library materials, answering informational questions, and providing general information about library services and facilities. *Helps patrons in the use of public access catalog, library computer systems, and multimedia equipment. *Answers routine inquiries and refers those requiring professional assistance. *Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction. *Collects fines and fees for late, lost or damages materials. *Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications: 
*High School diploma/GED and 30 semester hours/45 quarter hours at the College level *Two years related experience in an academic library or public library. *At least one year of functional supervisory experience *Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System *Skills in keyboarding, grammar, math, standard level word processing (MS Word) and basic level spreadsheet applications (MS Excel) *Proficiency in MS Outlook 2007/2010 and library automation such as scanners, bar-code readers, electronic databases and OPAC stations *Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively to groups of students and other organization employees and conduct presentations *Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships *Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of regular work *Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment manuals, database and other software manuals, process and procedure instructions *Ability to write routine reports and correspondence *Ability to file by alpha and numeric *Must have sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population Preferred Qualifications:: *Associate or higher degree *Three to five years of full-time library experience *Excellent technology acumen with a working knowledge of library research and information literacy *Experience with Banner financial system, Millennium Library modules (circulation, serials, acquisitions, periodicals, etc.), and OhioLINK 
Salary and Benefits: 
Minimum of $33,921 Annualized. Amoung the benefits are medical, retirement contributions, vacation and holiday pay.
