Responsibilities: 
•Participates in the personnel process for branch staff, including, but not limited to hiring, supervision and evaluation of staff performance and identification of staff training needs. •Leads staff members in providing the highest quality service to all internal and external customers, which include building group morale and cohesiveness, managing group processes and achieving team goals. •Plans a public service program of reference assistance, reader’s advisory and programming to support the Library’s mission statement. •Develops and maintains library collections responsible to community’s information, recreation and education needs. •Monitors branch materials budget. •Maintains awareness of current library trends and developments through professional reading, conference attendance and organization participation. •Interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to public in a patron-responsive manner. •Establishes effective communications with community groups, organizations and individuals. •Plans work flow of agency including staffing for effective public service. •Monitors physical plant, initiates maintenance and repair as necessary, alerts administration to major problems. •Interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to staff. •Insures compliance with standard operating procedures. •Performs reference service duties. •Uses technology to generate agency reports and library service functions. •Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of this position. 
Qualifications: 
•Demonstrated increasingly responsible professional experience. •Knowledge of the basic elements of library administration and the ability to apply such knowledge to work performed. •Knowledge of the Library’s policies and procedures. •Analytical abilities sufficient to perform reference searches quickly and accurately with material at the appropriate age level. •Independent judgment in order to set priorities and work independently. •Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with the public and staff. •Effective verbal and written communication skills. •Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. •Concentrates on a task despite frequent distractions. Education Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school. 
Salary and Benefits: 
Hours 40 hours per week Salary Grade L: $45,406.40 - $68,099.20 per year
