Licking County Library

Circulation Clerk Aide (Part-Time)
Newark Library, Newark, Ohio


Under the general supervision of the Head of Circulation & Building Services, the person in this position works in the Circulation Department of the Newark Library. He or she assists library customers in borrowing and using Library materials, services, and equipment; and maintains computer database records.



This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week. A job offer will be conditional upon successful completion of a background check and meeting any other preconditions of employment. Opportunity for extra hours may occur on occasion but will not exceed 49.5 hours in a two-week pay period. The successful candidate will work a varying schedule including evenings and weekends, Monday through Saturday. The successful candidate, if needed, will be required to work additional hours on Sundays at the Newark Library.

Pay Rate

The pay for this position starts at $10.00/hour. This position is not eligible for the library's fringe benefit package.



Probationary Period

The first 6 months in this position are considered probationary in nature. The successful applicant's performance will be reviewed at 6 months. If the employee's performance is not satisfactory, the employee may be terminated.  If in the opinion of the supervisor, it seems the employee needs more time to show they can perform at the expected level, the probationary period may be extended for a maximum of three more months. If the employee's performance is still not satisfactory at the end of this second probationary period, their employment with the Library will be terminated.

The appointment of the successful applicant will be made pursuant to Section 1.210 of the Staff Handbook.
